The Story

Ahavah which means "love" in Hebrew, is "A Christmas Mystére." It will always remain a mystery how the God of all creation could love us so much that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sins.

Act 1

Scene 1:  The Party Scene

The story begins at the home of Alexandra, a young girl who is searching for the true meaning of Christmas. Her family is hosting an elegant Christmas party. Alexandra, unlike the other children, feels empty and lost as the gifts are passed around. Her grandparents arrive and give her a special present: a Bible. All of the children gather around to hear the story of Christmas when suddenly the Jester comes in and distracts everyone with presents, candy, and toys. Alexandra's grandparents leave the party realizing that no one has the ears to hear the true story of Christmas except maybe Alexandra.

After the party, Alexandra tries to ask her Father and Mother to read her the book, but they do not want to be bothered. Disappointed, Alexandra is sent to bed.

Scene 2:  The Book

That night Alexandra cannot sleep. She is determined to see if the book holds the answers for her searching heart. As she opens the book and starts to read it, the story suddenly comes alive! Angels emerge from the pages and offer to take her on a journey through time. Alexandra takes the hand of the Archangel and prepares to be led into a different world.

Scene 3:  The Fall

Alexandra arrives in a foreign land. She sees how the first sin was the cause of the separation between God (The King) and man. Dark spirits surround the people. There are two groups of people in the land, the Jews and the Gentiles. Both suffer under the evil Ninja whom they have foolishly allowed to rule their land.

Scene 4:  Mary and Joseph

Alexandra meets Joseph and observes as he tries to get a young girl, Mary, to notice him. Finally, he gets the courage to speak to her, and the two fall quickly in love.

Scene 5:  The Division of Sin

On his throne in heaven, the King is separated from his people on earth by a wall of ninja. Longing to be with his people the King determines the only way to be reunited is to send himself as a pure and perfect sacrifice. He will come as a baby through a virgin, grow up, and grow strong enough to conquer the evil Ninja. He chooses Mary and tells his Messenger to go bring her the news. Mary is overjoyed that the King has chosen her. Despite the evil Ninja, she had always faithfully believed in the King's love for his people. Mary is so excited she runs to tell Joseph, but Joseph is confused- thinking he has been betrayed. He wants nothing to do with her. Mary is left alone and frightened.

Scene 6:  Disbelief

Because of Joseph's disbelief, he allows the evil Ninja to come between the love he shares with Mary.

Scene 7: Visit with Elizabeth and Joseph's Dream

The Messenger tells Mary that her cousin, Elizabeth, is also with child even in her old age. Elizabeth encourages Mary and they rejoice in the coming of the King. They are both excited and humbled that he is using them to fulfill his mighty plan to overtake the evil Ninja. Joseph is visited by the Messenger in a dream. He is told that Mary has the favor of the King and is telling the truth. Joseph returns to Mary apologizing for his doubt and they get married.

Scene 8:  Travelers

Herod, one of the mighty rulers of the land, issues a count of all the people. Everyone is forced to travel to their hometown. Mary and Joseph must go to Bethlehem, even though Mary is very close to giving birth. While they are traveling, the Jews surround them singing of hope for a savior to come. The Gentiles listen and join in, for they also want to be freed.

Scene 9:  Bethlehem

When Mary and Joseph arrive they are tired and discouraged that every inn is full. Even though Mary is desperate for a place to stay, no one will let them in. Finally, a kind innkeeper allows them to enter a stable.

Scene 10:  The Angels

The Angels arrive to watch over the birth of the King.

Scene 11:  The Birth of the King

The King is born, and tension grows between the Angels and the evil Ninja. The Ninja realize that their power will forever be threatened.

ACT II

Scene 1:  Shepherds and the Heavenly Host

(Luke 2: 8-14) That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded them. They were terribly frightened, but the angel reassured them. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The Savior -yes, the Messiah, the Lord-has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David! And this is how you will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth!" Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others-the armies of heaven-praising God: "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors."

Scene 2:  Magi

Three Magi from the Far East study the stars and prophecies. They realize that this is the time for the Savior to come. They gather gifts for him and follow a prominent star, making the long journey to worship him.

Scene 3:  Visit to Herod

The Magi arrive in Jerusalem at the palace of King Herod asking, "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him." Herod is deeply disturbed by their question, as is all of Jerusalem. He then holds a meeting to find out what the prophets had foretold of this king. He learns that this newborn is to be the next King of the Jews. Herod plots and then tells the Magi to go find this king and return to him. Herod tells them this is so he can then worship the new king as well.

Scene 4:  Bearing Gifts We Traveled So Far

After the visit with Herod, the Magi go on their way. Once again the star appears to them, guiding them to Bethlehem. It travels ahead of them and stops over the place where the child is. When they see the star they are filled with joy! They enter the house where the child is and fall before him worshipping him. Opening their treasure chests, they give him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Scene 5:  The Messenger Warns the Magi

The Magi are ready to leave but are warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod. They go home another way.

Scene 6:  Herod's Plight

Herod is furious when he learns that the Magi have outwitted him. The Magi had told Herod the star first appeared to them about two years earlier. The infuriated Herod sends soldiers to kill all the boys in and around Bethlehem who are two years old and younger.

Scene 7:  The Messenger Warns Mary & Joseph

An angel of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream. "Get up and flee to Egypt with the child and his mother," the angel says. "Stay there until I tell you to return because Herod is going to try to kill the child."

That night Joseph leaves for Egypt with Mary and the child. They stay there until Herod's death.

Scene 8:  Jesus Grows Into a Man

Jesus grows into a man under the love and care of Mary and Joseph.

Scene 9:  His Healing Touch

Jesus performs miracles and exercises his power to diminish the darkness in the land with his love.

Scene 10:  The Ninja Finale

The Ninja plan their attack. They feel their powers weakening and this angers them. The Ninja seize the people and spread doubt in their minds. The same people who were so grateful for Jesus' healing and believed he was their Savior start doubting and questioning him. Despite the circumstances, the King is so full of love for his people that he stands up to the Head Ninja and demands his people be set free. The Head Ninja laughs and fights the King, killing him. After three days the King rises from the dead and kills the Head Ninja. Finally, the Ninja are defeated.

Scene 10:  Every Knee Will Bow

The King has risen and the people rejoice because they realize everything the King said is true. His love fills their hearts and they repent before him. Everyone, even the Ninja, must bow to the new King and confess that he is Lord over them. He tells Alexandra she must return home where she will still find him.

Scene 11:  With Faith Like a Child

In the final scene, Alexandra is back in her living room. Overwhelmed by all of the accounts in the story, she questions if they could possibly be true. Could there really have been a Savior that came to the world to give his life so she might be forgiven?

(John 3:16) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

No, it's just a story, she thinks. Who could love me that much? Her heart starts to question if God is truly the answer to filling the emptiness in her heart. But where is He now? She tries to believe just as the people in the story did. She decides that if He came to save them, why wouldn't He come to save her as well? She starts to cry. Then Jesus appears to her right in her living room! He fills her heart with His love and she knows it is true! His love is real and alive inside her heart. She wants to tell the world that this love "AHAVAH" does exist for all who chose to believe.
